Guidance Counselor Recommendation Policy
*Counselors will seek written information from students, and possibly parents, to use in writing the recommedation. Students should plan to meet with their counselor 3-4 weeks prior to the application due date to hand in this information.
*After writing the recommendation, counselors will sit down with the student in the counselor's office to review the recommendation for accuracy and completeness.
*Students or parents wishing to review the recommendation after that point should check the student's folder in the Registrar's Office. Counselors will not give students copies of their recommendations, nor will they email them to students or parents. No changes will be made to the recommendation other than to correct factual or typographical errors.
*Counselors may initiate contact with parents to discuss sensitive matters, such as medical or Special Education.
Secondary School Report Forms
If a college application contains a Secondary School Report, a student should complete the personal information section on the form and submit it to the Records Office along with the completed Consent Form. Request that it be sent along with the transcript and the other materials being released. CCHS's procedure precludes counselors from filling out the Secondary School Report.
