Many organizations and individuals use a spreadsheets program like Excel to organize and calculate data, estimate, and plan costs associated with running their work or business. The Elephant Sanctuary has to calculate many costs. In this project you will use a spreadsheet to estimate what it costs to feed the elephants at the Sanctuary. Using what you learn, you'll make a fundraising recommendation to the Sanctuary.

Step 1:
Click here to download the Elephant Data information. Handouts will be available in class.
Click here to download the step 1 Excel spreadsheet. Save the spreadsheet to your computer class folder on the desktop.

Step 2:
Using the Elephant Data information: fill in the weight of the elephants.
Using the Elephant Data information: fill in the pounds of hay, grains or fruit and vegetables each elephants eat. Put the information in the correct columns.

Leave the money columns empty. We'll learn how to add the money and formulas in Step 3.

Step 3:
Add the dollar amounts and create formulas that will calculate totals. We'll do this together in class.
