Social Studies Resources

In the world of the Internet there is an abundance of resources at your fingertips. As you know, this is both a blessing and a curse! One of your jobs as a student is to learn how to recognize good sites and those that you should avoid. We will talk a bit about this in class. For now, here are some good general sites that you can start with. You will also find additional sites for each unit outlined with the course information.

This list is just the very beginning. If you do find a good site, let me know and I will add it to the list.

General Sites

A good place to start is to go to the CCHS Library website.   We have access to a number of very good resources.   If you don't know how to get the user names and passwords, see me or anyone in the library.

One of the best sites for primary sources is the Internet History Sourcebook Site.   There are several different Sourcebooks and the site is clearly organized.

Spartacus Schoolnet is a British school site that is an excellent resource for everything from the Romans to the 20 th century.   This site is pretty focused on Europe but it has great information.

Maps

Historical Maps Overview is a collection of historical maps.   It often helps to see the lands we are talking about!

This MAP site has a long list of hundreds of historical maps.
Timelines

HyperHistory Online makes overlapping layered history timelines.   Pretty cool stuff!
