Contact The content on this web site was created by Sandy Peirce, the Alcott Library Teacher. The web site itself was designed by John Peachey, the Alcott Instructional Technology Specialist. You can contact us via email at: speirce@colonial.net and jpeachey@colonial.net. Meet The Librarians Sandy Peirce--I'm the proud grandmother of John and Ava Jayne, and wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and niece in between. Free time welcomes kayaking, biking, walking, bookstores and libraries, and domestic endeavors on the home front. Massachusetts has always been home: Cambridge, Concord, Westford, Groton, and Acton. Visits to Crane Beach in Ipswich have been a constant and favorite thread in my life from childhood to present day excursions with daughter Heather Jayne. I think a main purpose of education is to understand each other better, and to have our questions answered. I learn with the children every day, and I love it! Penny Staples-- I am the Library Aide at Alcott and help Mrs. Peirce to keep things running smoothly in the library. Here are just a few of the things I do: I keep all the records for books and patrons in order on the computer. Whenever we get new books, I get them ready so that they can be checked in and out of the library. I repair all the books that have broken spines, torn pages, unreadable spine labels, worn-out bar codes, or icky covers. I keep track of books that are overdue or missing. I put information about students, staff members, and parent volunteers into the computer so that they can check out books. I help children to find books; I help parent volunteers with the computer; I help teachers fill their classrooms with books that are connected to lessons they are teaching their students; and lots more. When I am not at Alcott, you might see me around Concord where I live with my family. Like Thoreau, I like to walk in the woods and fields to see what is new in the natural world. I have a dog named Mocha who needs lots of exercise, and I need exercise too so I often go running (although I'm not very fast any more!). I like to paint with watercolors, and I like to putter about in my garden. I like to explore new places far away from Concord. Mostly, though, I love to read, and I can't seem to stay out of libraries and bookstores!
