Dear Parents, Hello! I'm glad you have found
our class webpage! I hope you will find this useful during these
last two months of school. Having this webpage should be a great
resource to future fifth graders in my class. As I mentioned,
please check out all of the links on this page and use it for
a few weeks at home. After you have used this webpage, I would
really appreciate it if you could fill out a questionnaire and
return it to me. Your feedback will be helpful to me when making
changes to the webpage.
There are just seven weeks left
of school! This is a busy time for fifth graders. In school,
your child is studying many topics. Currently, we are studying
the circulatory and respiratory systems in science. Students
are creating five paragraph essays on the circulatory system
using the laptops. In math, we are studying fractions, decimals,
and percents. Please point out any fractions, decimals, or percents
you see at home to your child, concepts are best understood when
a connection from school and home is made. We will be starting
a new book today in Language Arts. Your child will be reading
The Cay in literature circles. I plan to structure the circles
differently for this book. Students will meet each day in their
book circles with me and they will each have a turn in leading
the book talk. We will read some chapters together in school
and other chapters will be assigned for homework. In social studies,
we have finished studying Columbus and the impact of his explorations.
We will now begin to learn about other explorers.
Please continue to check this
website for more updates on fifth grade events. In June we will
have fifth grade graduation, fifth grade fun day, the fifth grade
talent show, and other exciting things to look forward to.
I have really enjoyed the spring
conferences so far! Having your children present at our conference
has been really wonderful. I look forward to seeing the rest
of you at our spring conference time!
Sincerely,
Katie Zettl |
