Willard School Library Mission Statement

Guiding children toward a love of reading, and the skills to pursue their interests, are the core values of our library program. Our goal is for all students to become life-long learners who are comfortable using libraries. All children should be empowered to walk into a library, be able to find what they need, and ask for help when they need assistance.

"In the nonstop tsunami of global information, librarians provide us with floaties and teach us how to swim."- Linton Weeks

The Library supports the goals of the Willard School Mission statement by providing and administering a collection that offers the finest children's literature, current and accurate nonfiction, and a current reference section.

The Willard Library is dedicated to instilling a love of reading and teaching the necessary skills to access and evaluate information. All students will be educated in the responsible uses of technology, information gathering, respect for copyright, information assessment, Internet safety, and respecting the rights of others.

"Read. Not just what you have to read for class or work, but to learn from the wisdom and joys and mistakes of others. No time is ever wasted if you have a book along as a companion." - Marian Wright Edelman
