1. Go to the CCHS website:

2. Click on "Departments"
3. Click on "Guidance." Once you are there, look at the left hand side of the page and scroll down to where it reads "For Juniors & Seniors" and click on "The College Search" and then "Choosing a College" and read the entire page!
4. Click on any links that are of interest to you. The College Board is a good place to start. You can perform a search by selecting choices regarding the type of school, location, campus life, sports and activities, majors, cost, etc. of colleges in which you are interested. Read in-depth information about your selected colleges from the The College Handbook. There are also more links to other sites at the bottom of the page. Consider book-marking any pages to which you might like to return.
5. After you have looked through what interests you, click on "The College Application" on the left side of your screen and then click on "Application Strategies" and read.
6. Go back to the "The College Application" page and click on "The College Essay" and read the entire page.

8. Go to http://www.commonapp.org/ to look at the essay topics for the Common Application (Common App). If this link is no longer available, try the following site:

9. For other possible topics click on "Sample College Essay Questions" from the page on "The College Essay".
10. Look anywhere else on the Guidance site that might help you. Other links from "The College Search" might help you, such as "Information for Student Athletes" and "Multicultural College Resources" or "Paying for College" whose link is located on the left hand side of the Guidance site.
11. Fill out the brainstorming sheet linked here and then pick a topic! (Either one from the Common App., the sample question list (since one of the topics from the Common App is to choose your own), or a specific question from a college to which you might apply (e.g. see Villanova's application essay: http://www.villanova.edu/enroll/admission/application/undergrad/supplement/essay.htm ).
