Poetry Unit

Students begin with the study of poetry and read predominantly American writers including Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Mary Oliver, and Walt Whitman, among others. They will study different poetic devices and terms while having many opportunities to write both personally and analytically about poems and even to write some poetry! This unit will culminate in a digital poetry project for which they will learn the technologies needed to create short videos to express a short series of poems using video and music.

The links posted to the right of this section are excellent resources for finding published poems for the project or just to enjoy poetry anytime!
