APPLICATION/NOMINATION FOR

PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is given by the President of the United States to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period. The 2Volunteer Committee is the designated certifying organization evaluating the following criteria in choosing recipients: the impact the service has on others, how it may affect your personal growth and life choices, and how it benefits the community both inside and outside of CCHS.

Award nominations for Concord-Carlisle High School students of any class should be forwarded to the CCHS mailbox of the 2Volunteer Committee or may be submitted by e-mail to 2volunteer@colonial.net. The 2Volunteer Committee will process the award nominations for submission to the President’s Council. Awards are given in 3 categories: Bronze for 100 to 174 hours of service, Silver for 175 to 249 hours, and Gold for 250 hours, all in any continuous 12-month period. Service must be documented and verifiable. Any CCHS teacher or administrator or volunteer agency director may nominate a student, or a student may nominate himself/herself. Applications must be submitted by March 1 for awards to be given at Awards Night.

Award recipients will receive a President’s Volunteer Service Award lapel pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States, and a letter from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Qualifying service has the same definition as CCHS Community Service. A recognized service activity is: performed for no pay; completed at a nonprofit institution; beneficial to at least one other person and the larger “community”; not associated with the teaching or promotion of any specific religion; and separate from a service activity for which the student is already receiving school credit.
