Programs:

Library Orientation is a program for 6th grade students held in the fall of their first year at CMS.  Students come to the library through their academic classes and learn how to access various resources in the library to help prepare them for research projects in grades 6, 7, and 8.  They become acquainted with circulation procedure, location of print materials and learn how to access and use online reference and periodicals. The

program covers four class periods in the fall.  All information in the orientation program is reinforced when students come to the library for research.

The Gift Book Program is sponsored by the PTG and provides parents and students with an opportunity to purchase a book for the libraries in honor of a special person.  Gift books are on sale at Back-to-School night in the fall and Open House in the spring. Thank you to all the families who purchased Gift Books.

Annual Middle School Read-Off is a self-paced, non-competitive reading initiative that begins during National Library Week and continues for four weeks.  The libraries purchase new paperbacks for the collection and students check them out.  To qualify for small prizes participants submit a brief book evaluation for each  book they read during the program period.

Volunteer Program.  The libraries welcome parent volunteers to assist with various programs and collection maintenance activities.  If you are interested in being a volunteer contact your PTG volunteer coordinator.
