The SAT II tests in French and Spanish demand extensive vocabulary, advanced reading skills, and knowledge of fine (sometimes subtle) points of grammar. The program at CCHS at the beginning stages focuses on the development of speaking and listening skills, and only in the most advanced courses does reading become a major component. The Foreign Language department recommends that students in Intermediate 2H or Advanced 1H take SAT II either in the spring of junior year or fall of senior year. The Foreign Language Department also strongly recommends that students engage in supplementary preparation outside of class and take a language test at the latest possible time in their studies. Students may sign out (with deposit) a commercial Subject Test preparation book. Sample Spanish and French SAT Subject Tests are available from the Foreign Language Department, including sample Listening exams. See your teacher if you'd like more information.
Review for the AP Language Exams in French and Spanish is done throughout the year in Advanced classes with more intense preparation in February, March and April. Students should routinely spend personal study time in addition to class time in order to well on the exam. |
