"The important achievement of Apollo was demonstrating that humanity is not forever chained to this planet and our visions go rather further than that and our opportunities are unlimited."

Science Fun Fact: Jupiter's "Galilean" Moons

The four inner moons of Jupiter, discovered by Italian astronomer Galileo,

can be remembered using the mnemonic sentence:

"I Eat Graham Crackers."

Io, Europa, Gyanemede, Callisto.

Jupiter has the most satellites (moons) in our solar system: 63 and counting...

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (exerpt)

The upper air burst into life!
And a hundred fire-flags sheen,
To and fro they were hurried about!
And to and fro, and in and out,
The wan stars danced between
And the coming wind did roar more loud,
And the sails did sigh like sedge;
And the rain poured down from one black cloud;
The Moon was at its edge

-Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1797)

~DINOSAUR EXTINCTION: IMPACT CRATER THEORY~

Impact craters are the remains of collisions between an asteroid, comet, or meteorite and the Earth. Some large impact craters include the Chicxulub crater (off the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico) and the Shiva crater (in India). Both craters date from 65 million years ago at the K-T (Cretaceous-Tertiary) boundary, and may have contributed to the K-T mass extinction. The demise of the dinosaurs and 75% of all other Mesozoic species is associated with this mass extinction.
