Welcome!

The fall 2008 school year has begun! We are looking forward to a fun and active year in 6th grade math. Concord Schools uses the Connected Math Project(CMP) curriculum. The CMP curriculum provides real life problems and uses high levels of active learning and problem solving skills. In addition we focus on solidifying all the basic math skills. Use the link on the left to find out more about CMP. Our first unit is called PrimeTime and I have provided some additional links for practice on the left.

Homework:

Click Here for a list of homework assignments.

I expect students to work on Math homework for no more than 30 minutes each school night.

Math Units for this year:

Our curriculum is broken into a variety of units listed below.

Number Theory (Prime Time)
Order of Operations - handouts
Fractions-Decimals-Percents (Bits & Pieces I)
Geometry I: Area & Perimeter of Triangles & Quadrilaterals, basic classification review(Covering & Surrounding)
Operations with Fractions & Decimals (Bits & Pieces II)
Circles (Covering & Surrounding)
Data & Statistics (Data About Us)
Probability (How Likely Is It?)
Geometry II - Classification & Transformation (Shapes & Designs)

  • In addition to the above units we have "Math Maintenance" assignments throughout the year to review area, perimeter, and other operations.

School Supplies: A 3-ring binder(can be with other subjects) with 3 sections. Notes, homework, and handouts. If you prefer to use a spiral notebook for notes, that is fine. Just make sure you have 2 sections either in a folder or in your binder for homework and handouts.
