7th and 8th grade students: Tryouts for boys/girls soccer and field hockey continue today from
2:30-4:30. Boys/girls soccer is at the Cushing field located at Peabody. Take bus 5
over at dismissal. Field Hockey tryouts will be on the lower field @ Sanborn.
Please be sure to have a ride at 4:30 or take the late bus.
Intramural soccer will
begin next Wednesday, September 17th at Peabody.

Model United Nations will meet
Thursday, September 25 in Sanborn 204 from 2:30-3:30. Please see Mr.

Intramural field hockey meets
again on Monday, September 15th. Our games will be held at Sanborn on the
upper fields. In order to play you must bring a stick, goggles, and a
mouthpiece. We will play on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:30. If you
have any questions please see Mr. Crowley in the Peabody Building.
You need to make sure you have a ride home from Sanborn at 4:30 or plan to
take the bus.

Picture day is
Friday, September 26th in both Peabody and Sanborn. Forms will be
distributed during homeroom on Monday, September 22nd. Please make checks
payable to Coffee Pond Photography or you may order on line. Return the
envelope and payment to the photographer on picture day.
Important Information About the Late
Buses: The late buses run from both Middle School buildings at
3:40 pm and 4:30 pm. They stop at a limited number of places in town and end
up at the high school. A bus leaves from CCHS at 5:15 pm and makes numerous
stops in many areas of town. Please note that because the high school late
bus does not leave CCHS until 5:15 pm, your child will be quite late getting
home when s/he takes the late bus. Information about all late bus routes may
be obtained by calling the office at your child’s Middle School
building. Refer to the section below for individual late bus schedules.

LATE BUSES TO BOSTON
The 3:35 late bus to Boston
runs on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, Friday afternoons. It picks up
students at Peabody and Sanborn at 3:35 p.m. Students must sign up to ride
this bus and select a stop from the list in the main office in their
respective buildings by the end of the last lunch period each day that they
need to ride it. Students participating in activities that end at 4:30 must
sign up for the 5:15 METCO Sports/Activity Bus in the main office at their
respective buildings by the end of the last lunch period. They will need to
take a 4:30 bus from the middle school to the high school to board the 5:15
METCO Sports/Activity bus. The 5:15 METCO bus brings all students to METCO,
Inc., at 40
Dimock Street in Roxbury for parent pick up at
approximately 6:00 p.m. The 5:15 METCO Sports/Activity bus runs Monday -
Friday. Students who do not sign up for the late bus on time will need to go
home on the regular bus.

Care Package
Drive for US Troops, Sat Sept 13th, 9 am
- 4 pm, Crosby’s Marketplace, Sudbury Rd. Holy
Family Parish in Concord is sponsoring a Care Package Drive
for US Troops at Crosby’s Marketplace on Sudbury Road in Concord. Shoppers are asked to pick up
food and personal care items while they shop. A list of items requested by
our soldiers and marines will be available at Crosby’s
Marketplace on the days of the drive. Donations will be collected as you
exit the store. Holy Family Parish of Concord will deliver the items to
Hanscom AFB for their September Care Package Event. Your generous donations

Registration for The Concord
Conservatory of Music’s fall semester group classes is
now underway. The Vocal
Workshop Series for Teens is a series of three - 10 week vocal
workshops for teens, to give them an experience of singing a variety of
repertory from classical to Broadway to contemporary styles. This course is
useful for beginners as well as those currently taking lessons. The
emphasis is on developing the voice in a healthy way, through proper
warm-ups, song selection, and vocal technique and strengthening. Classes

The Center for Parents and Teachers Fall Parenting Program
"How to Talk So Kids will Listen and

Family CarbonCalc Nights
Energy costs are rising. Climate change is affecting our
weather. Winter is coming. It's an excellent time to take stock of our
personal and household energy consumption and to create action plans, which
will move us toward a more sustainable future. Concord Climate Action Network
(CCAN) and your Community Education department will host "Carbon Calc
Nights" at each elementary school. Participants will calculate their
household and transportation energy use and then, as a group, explore actions
that can reduce energy use and costs through basic changes in habits and
lifestyle.

Return to the Soil series
begins September 18, 7:30 PM, at the Alcott School.
The Concord Historical Collaborative, which includes the Concord Schools,
will host Brian Donahue on Thursday, September 18 at the Alcott School
at 7:30 p.m. for a special talk entitled, ìHusbandry was Once a Sacred Art:
Connecting Sustainable Farming with the History of Concord's Agriculture.
Donahue will explore changes in Concord
agriculture and land use over the centuries, the impact of farming on the
environment, and consider the potential for growing community-engaged and
educational farming in Concord
today. This talk is free and open to the public. Reservations are not
required. Brian Donahue is a specialist in environmental history and holds
the Jack Myerhoff Chair at Brandeis
University. He is the
author of Reclaiming the Commons and Great Meadow: Farmers and the Land in
Colonial Concord.
