Peter Atlas

Peter Atlas has been a mathematics teacher at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School in Concord, Massachusetts since 1988. Mr. Atlas has been interested in higher dimensional spaces since his undergraduate days when he studied with Professor Ethan Bolker at the University of Massachusetts. His interest in kaleidocycles was born when he studied Design Science with Dr. Arthur Loeb at Harvard University.

Mr. Atlas has developed and taught courses devoted to a mathematical treatment of dimension for the Virtual High School (VHS) and the Brandeis University Summer Odyssey Program.

Mr. Atlas has been a member of the Philomorphs, a consortium of mathematicians, scientists and artists interested in design science. His memberships have also included the National Association of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) the Massachusetts Teacher's Association (MTA) and the Gay/Lesbian/Straight Teachers Network (GLSTN).

Mr. Atlas has been a Reader and Table Leader at the Advanced Placement Calculus reading for the past decade. In 2004, he was a Question Leader there.

In 2004, he was awarded a half-year research sabbatical by the Concord-Carlisle Regional School System, Brenda Finn, Superintendent, Arthur DuLong, Principal. The technical paper included in these web pages was a result of his research.

Mr. Atlas would like to thank Ms Caryn Johnson, whose friendship, support and mathematical instinct have been instrumental in the production of this research.
